Organizing and Editing Threads

There are lots of ways to keep your threads organized as your conversations evolve! Here are some of the things you can do to update your Threads over time.

Editing Thread Name, Participants and Messages

You can modify the thread name and recipients at any time, allowing for flexibility as discussions evolve. You can also edit a message you sent in the thread after you've sent it.

To edit the thread name or recipients, open the thread and either click on the Thread name at the top (not in the inbox sidebar or in the group chat), or click on the ellipsis in the upper right hand corner and select "Thread Settings" to open the thread settings modal.

Anyone on the thread can add a recipient (groups or users). Only the starter or an admin can .

Forking off-topic messages into a new Thread

Messages in an existing thread can be when a new topic arises, helping to keep discussions organized and relevant.

Pinning Messages in a Thread

Any user in a thread can pin a message for the entire thread. Click the ellipsis next to the message you want to pin to find the drop down menu and pin (or unpin) the message.

If there are one or more pinned messages on a thread, a pin icon will show up at the top and you can see the entire list of pinned messages. This makes it easy to save important messages for everyone on the thread to refer back to later. Pinned messages will also show up highlighted in the thread chat stream so you can easily spot important messages and who pinned it.

Thread Level Actions

There are a lot of actions you can take at the Thread level to manage your threads and thread inbox. Most Thread actions can be taken either from your Thread inbox view or from the Thread menu when you have the Thread open.

When the thread is open you can click the ellipsis in the upper right hand corner and choose from this menu below.

Other Thread Actions

  • Summarize Thread - Glue AI will summarize the messages in the Thread and share a summary that's only visible to you. If you need to catch up on a Thread but don't need everyone else to see the summary, this is a great option!

  • Copy Share Link - Get a link to the thread that you can share elsewhere. Keep in mind that only people who are on the Thread or in a group on the thread will be able to see the Thread when they click on the link. Remember you can also @ mention the name of a thread within Glue for even easier sharing.

Removing recipients from a Thread

Only the thread starter and admins (group or workspace admins on the thread) can remove other users or groups from a thread. The thread starter cannot be removed from the thread.

  1. Click into the thread name or thread settings

  2. Search for or find the user or group

  3. Click the X button next to their name

  4. Confirm that you want to remove their access to the thread

See . You can take these actions from the Thread menu or in your Thread inbox view.

Archive ✔️

Archiving a thread marks it done and moves it from your inbox to Archived. The thread will reappear in the inbox if there is a new message sent to the thread.

You can always access archived threads by clicking the ellipsis next to Threads and choosing the See all option and navigate to the Archived tab.

To move an archived thread back to your inbox, navigate to the Archived section of your inbox (see above) and simply click the inbox icon to move it back to the inbox. You can also multi-select multiple threads at once to move them to your inbox.

Unfollow 🔔

Unfollowing a thread will remove it from your inbox and mute notifications about that thread. You will still have access to the thread and can find it in the Feed, in your Groups tab, and through Search.

After you've unfollowed a thread, if another user @mentions you or a group you belong to in the thread, it will appear in your inbox again as thread that you are following.

Set a Reminder ⏰

If you're not ready to take action on a thread, but still want to keep your inbox clean, you can set a reminder on a thread for a specific time in the future.

Setting a reminder on a thread temporarily archives the thread from your inbox and has it reappear in your inbox at the selected time and date of your choosing.

Star ⭐️

Starring a thread moves it to a special Starred section of the inbox. Starred threads will remain pinned to this section. If there are no starred threads, the Starred section of the inbox is hidden.

Mark read / unread ✉️

Mark threads read or unread in your inbox depending on their status. Marking a thread unread will make the thread name bold in your inbox and return it to the top of your inbox if your Inbox is sorted by Unread.
