# Search

Users can search for messages, threads, groups, or people in the search bar at the top of the app. Click into a result to pull up the search result thread list and view each relevant thread, and exit the search results when done.

Threads and groups in Glue make search faster and easier, getting you to the right conversation you're looking for.

## Scoped Search

You can search specifically within the context of a thread, group chat, or DM to narrow the context window of your search.

### Starting a scoped search

**From an open conversation**

* Open a thread, group chat, or DM
* Start a search by clicking on the search bar
* Select **Search within this conversation** from the filter dropdown

**From global search**

* Type `@GroupName` or `@ThreadName` or `@PersonName` search term in global search — be sure to include the `@` symbol to scope the search.
* Add your search term after the mention.

### What is supported in scoped search

* Scoped search currently supports searching within — `in:` — a single thread or chat. We will be releasing additional filtering options in future updates! Contact our support team if you are looking for specific filters.
* Scoped search is supported on the **desktop and web**. It is not supported on the mobile app.
